Microsoft Acquiring Yahoo One Employee at a Time

Bartz: Who Do You Take Me For–Jerry Yang?

What’s Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz’s latest thinking on a search deal with Microsoft? Your guess is as good as any because Bartz isn’t saying. Asked at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference yesterday whether she favors such a deal, Bartz said she prefers to discuss it in boardrooms, not auditoriums or the media. “I am not going to negotiate with my 55,000 favorite friends,” she quipped.

Taking the “Yahoo” Out of “Yahoo Shareholder Activist”

No surprise here. Yahoo shareholder dissatisfaction is following a trend line inverse to the company’s plummeting share price. In fact, the price has dipped so low that Ironfire Capital founder Eric Jackson–the dissident Yahoo investor who agitated for change at the company and the creator of the Yahoo! Plan B investor community–has dumped his Yahoo shares.

Yahoo: Just Say No

Just say no to Microsoft, little Yahoo. Just say no. That was the grand decision reached at Yahoo’s board meeting Friday. Seems the board feels Microsoft’s $31-per-share hostile offer “massively undervalues” Yahoo. It officially rejected the bid this morning.
