RealNetworks’s Internal Layoff Memo

New York Times to Sack 100 Staffers

nytIf newspapers are suffering a death by 1000 cuts, the next 100 will be made at the New York Times. The company today announced plans to reduce its newsroom staff by eight percent by the end of 2009. Cuts will be made by buyout, but the company will resort to layoffs should its hand be forced.

MySpace | A Place for Layoffs, Redux

largest-axe3jpg-150x150jpg1MySpace has extended its war on bloat overseas. This morning the company announced plans to close at least four of its offices outside the U.S. in a bid to reduce costs. Some 300 of the company’s 450 international employees will lose their jobs as a result.

MySpace | A Place for Layoffs

All told, 420 workers will lose their jobs, reducing the size of the company’s staff to 1,000 employees. CEO Owen Van Natta’s all-hands memo, after the jump.

Report: Microsoft May or May Not Announce Layoffs

With the economy continuing to sour and consumer tech spending slowing, speculation is running rampant that Microsoft may soon join the sad conga line of tech companies announcing layoffs. According to an unsubstantiated, poorly sourced report currently making the rounds, Redmond is steeling itself for a massive staff reduction.
