Nokia R&D Workers Researching and Developing New Job Leads

LAYOFFS_BOBS_THUMBNokia’s workforce is deteriorating nearly as fast as its share of the mobile phone market. This morning, the company–which sacked 1,700 employees in March and another 450 in April–said it will cut 330 more jobs in its research and development group.

Eolas Sues Internet

Three years after squeezing a settlement out of Microsoft for alleged infringements of its controversial patent on embedded Web applications, Eolas Technologies hopes to do the same to a bunch of other big tech outfits. This morning, the research and development company filed suit against nearly two dozen companies, including Amazon, Apple, Adobe and Google.

GPhone 10 Percent Cheaper, Uglier Than iPhone

T-Mobile’s G1, the first smartphone based on Google’s Android operating system, really is as cheap as it looks. According to a new theoretical tear-down by research firm iSuppli, the G1 costs about 10 percent less to manufacture than Apple’s iPhone 3G.
