The broader advertising recovery may take time, but search advertising is clearly beating a hasty path back toward normalcy. Or it is in Google’s case anyway. Reporting third-quarter results after market close Thursday, the search giant posted revenue of $5.94 billion, an increase of seven percent compared to the third quarter of 2008.
The rumors were true. At an invitation-only media event in New York City this morning, Sirius XM debuted the first-ever radio dock for the iPhone and iPod touch. Dubbed SkyDock, the $119.99 peripheral transforms Apple handsets into full-fledged satellite radios. And it gives users access to all XM and “Best of SIRIUS” channels–even Howard Stern.
How do you persuade TV viewers to watch advertisements when the DVR has accustomed them to skip through them? That’s the dilemma facing television and cable networks today, one that’s so far defied a solution. But perhaps not for much longer.
