Cisco to Tandberg Shareholders: You’ll Accept $3.04 billion and Like It

Mr. T More HardballCisco has a message for Tandberg shareholders pressing the networking giant to raise its $3.04 billion offer for the company: Take it or we’re leaving. Sources tell Bloomberg that Cisco has little intention of meeting the demands of a group of investors who would like it to reach a bit deeper into its wallet before they hand over their 24 percent stake in Tandberg.

New from Sprint: The $99 Palm Pre [UPDATED]

commissino-rebatejpg-150x150Sprint effectively lowered the price of the Palm Pre today to $99 for new customers only, offering a $100 service credit to those who port their numbers over from another carrier. To be eligible for the promotion, customers must purchase the Pre along with a two-year service agreement and abandon their current carriers. UPDATE: Sprint has cancelled the offer. So Much for SamDisk

It was fun while it lasted, but Samsung has abandoned its bid to buy SanDisk. In a regulatory filing made nearly a year after its $5.85 billion offer for SanDisk was rejected as too low, Samsung officially called off the effort, which, had it been successful, would have combined two of the largest flash memory producers into a single NAND monstrosity.

Investors to Sun: We’ve Got Another Place for You to Put the Dot You Put in Dot-com

The market today continues to have its say on Sun’s rejection of IBM’s acquisition offer. The consensus: IBM threw Sun a rope and the company used it to make a noose. Shares of Sun–which fell nearly 27 percent Monday following the collapse this weekend of merger talks with IBM–are slipping again today on fears that the company has bollixed up what may have been its only chance at salvation.
