Microsoft, Fox Team Up to Create Worst Episode of Family Guy Ever

familyguy_billgatesThe last time Microsoft was featured in an episode of “Family Guy,” it was the butt of Zune joke. Peter Griffin’s father-in-law asked Bill Gates to help him program his Zune and then taunted the Microsoft chairman, noting that he owns an iPod “like the rest of the world.” This time it’s going to be different. That’s because Microsoft is paying to make it so. The company has teamed up with Fox to sponsor a “Family Guy” special built around Windows 7.

“I’m Peggy Olson and I Want to Smoke Some Marijuana.”

olsonThat line of dialogue from the upcoming episode of AMC drama “Mad Men” is destined to be repeated over and over again when the program officially airs on Aug. 30, though it’s begun making the rounds already, thanks to Apple’s iTunes. Seems a glitch with the service delivered the unaired third episode, called “My Old Kentucky Home,” to “Mad Men” Season Pass subscribers just before midnight on Tuesday.

What Should We Watch After MacGyver? “Kicked in the Nuts” or “Cat Falls in Toilet”?

YouTube is finally expanding its catalog of long-form video beyond the “This video has been removed due to terms of use violation” notice that so often appears in lieu of network video content. A newly-inked deal with CBS in hand, the video site has begun offering full-length episodes of TV series like “Dexter,” “Californication,” “MacGyver” and “Star Trek” alongside YouTube staples like “Cat Falls in Toilet” and “Kicked in the Nuts.”

Netflix to Stream Hannah Montana Contagion

Looks like Netflix’s video-streaming business is developing quite nicely. On Tuesday the DVD-by-mail pioneer said it has signed deals with CBS and Walt Disney that will add some of those networks’ most popular shows to the Netflix streaming library.
