NPD: Mac Sales Up Seven Percent, iPod Sales Down 16 Percent

steveingotApple’s September quarter is shaping up to be a good one, if the latest metrics from NPD as reported by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster are any indication. According to the research outfit, Mac sales for July and August are up seven percent year-over-year.

confused-apeDomestic Mac shipments for the second quarter of 2009 rose to 1.422 million, a 2.5 percent year-over-year increase. Or, they fell to 1.2 million, a decline of 12.4 percent. All depends on whom you believe, Gartner or IDC.

laptopheadsockAmerican Airlines domestic passenger jets are fast becoming a fleet of airborne Wi-Fi hotspots. After a successful six-month pilot program on 15 planes, the airline will expand its in-flight Wi-Fi service to 300 more over the next two years.
