When Apple said it does not support iTunes integration with third-party digital media players, it meant it. With iTunes 9.0.2, it has once again disabled the Palm Pre’s ability to synch with the media software.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness must be beside himself. Despite the band’s best efforts to prevent its new album, “No Line on the Horizon,” from appearing prematurely on the Internet, copies are being distributed there a week prior to its scheduled release. It’s not the fault of the ISPs, never mind that they are, according to McGuinness, “destroying the recorded music industry” by failing to tackle piracy.
Laughing off recent concerns about his health, a skinny–but energetic–Steve Jobs uncrated Apple’s latest hardware and software offerings this morning. Among them: iTunes 8 with HD, firmware updates for the iPod Touch and iPhone and a revamped line of iPods–including a new oval-shaped nano that is the thinnest iPod Apple has ever made.
What a sad, sad day for Microsoft. Zune Guy, the lone evangelist/fetishist for Redmond’s maligned digital media player, is giving up the fight. Dismayed over the Zune’s lack of improvement “mszunefan,” a.k.a. Steve Smith, has decided to have his Zune tattoos covered.
