Apple Announces October 14 Notebook Event

Apple this morning announced an invitation-only event at the company’s Town Hall in Cupertino. As you can see from the invitation at right, the focus is clearly notebooks. It appears those alleged photos of the Apple next-generation MacBook Pro casing that have been floating around recently may be the real deal. Same goes for rumors of a new $800 MacBook.

This Is Your Captain Speaking: Will the Gentleman in Seat 21A Please Stop Surfing Porn

Now that air-to-ground broadband has added Internet porn to American Airlines’ in-flight entertainment offerings, the company’s flight attendants are asking that it be taken off. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants, which represents 19,000 AA employees, is urging the airline to block access to Web content it feels is family-unfriendly.

Notflix, Redux

Notflix is Netflix once more. The company finally resolved the technology problem that crippled its ability to mail DVDs to members for most of this week. As of this morning, all Netflix distribution centers are operating normally, and the backlog of DVDs that should have been shipped earlier is finding its way into the mail.
