Apple rolled out iTunes 8.2.1, a minor point release of its popular media software that provides “a number of important bug fixes and addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices.” And devices masquerading as them. Like the Palm Pre.
When Windows 7 arrives at market in October, it will be ignored by more businesses than adopted. That’s the conclusion of a new survey conducted by Quest Software’s ScriptLogic unit, which polled 1,000 corporations on their plans for Microsoft’s forthcoming operating system. While 5.4 percent of respondents said they plan to deploy Windows 7 this calendar year and 34 percent by the end of 2010, 59.3 percent said they had no plans to deploy it at all.
Palm’s Pre is the first non-Apple device to successfully link with iTunes in years. And it may also be the last. On Tuesday, Apple issued an advisory warning that it does not support iTunes integration with third-party digital media players.
Now that Sony’s old guard has taken what was once a strong electronics and gaming brand and run it into the ground, the company’s new guard is circling back to resurrect it. This morning the company announced a management overhaul that will see CEO Howard Stringer succeed Ryoji Chubachi as president and assume responsibility for Sony’s key electronics division.
