Sirius XM Skydock for iPhoneThe rumors were true. At an invitation-only media event in New York City this morning, Sirius XM debuted the first-ever radio dock for the iPhone and iPod touch. Dubbed SkyDock, the $119.99 peripheral transforms Apple handsets into full-fledged satellite radios. And it gives users access to all XM and “Best of SIRIUS” channels–even Howard Stern.

Apple Triple Play: iTunes, App TV and Apple Television

In a research note issued this morning, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster says the time is right for Apple to release the next iteration of Apple TV and to begin work on a full-fledged Internet-connected television set.

Palm Valuation Not All It’s Cracked Up to Be

pre_crackedWith Palm’s shares up more than 900 percent since January, two things are clear: Palm’s Pre and webOS operating system are nothing short of a triumph and the run-up in Palm shares is most likely a wee bit overdone. In a research note issued Monday, Jesup and Lamont analyst Kevin Dede says as much, arguing that the company’s shares are overvalued, particularly in light of Pre returns.

Palm Sold 300,000 Pres in June

palm_pre_adflvDuring its post-earnings conference call last Thursday, Palm refused to say how many Pre handsets have been sold to date. Or how many it believes it will sell in the first quarter of production. The company would say only, in the words of CEO Jon Rubinstein, that “sales have been strong and growing.” So until Palm provides specific Pre sales figures, we have only the estimates of analysts with which to gauge the device’s impact on Palm’s moribund smartphone franchise. And the latest estimates, from Edward Snyder at Charter Equity Research, suggest that the impact is great.

Sirius iPhone App: No Stern? No NFL? No MLB? No Way. [UPDATED]

The too-long-in-coming Sirius XM app for the iPhone and iPod touch showed up in the App Store today and sadly, it’s more noteworthy for what’s missing than anything else. Absent from it are a number of the broadcaster’s more popular channels, among them Howard Stern’s, which Sirius often claims are responsible for driving more subscriptions than any other. Also missing: MLB Play-by-Play, NFL Play-by-Play and Sirius NASCAR Radio.
