Creepy Lady Thankfully Absent From New Palm Commercials

palmladyIn preparation for the official launch of its new Pixi handset, Palm is rolling out a new ad campaign. It’s something of a departure from the ads the company used to tout the Pre, trading their alleged “ethereal beauty” and I-Am-The-White-Witch-of-Narnia-FEAR-ME spokeswoman for a more forthright pitch involving a crowd of friendly-looking hipsters enjoying a new “Alvin and the Chipmunks” mashup.

Verizon Banishes iPhone to Island of Misfit Toys

misiftIf AT&T took offense at Verizon’s “There’s a Map for That” ad campaign, wait until it gets a load of its rival’s newest ad spots. Unfazed by AT&T’s litigious reply to its first effort, Verizon rolled out a trio of new anti-AT&T ads over the weekend and they are brutal in their criticism of the carrier’s network coverage.

Perhaps It’s Time for Another One of Those “Your iPhone Contract Is Up” Ads?

images2Palm’s Pre may compete with Apple’s iPhone on a feature-to-feature basis, but judging from the latest search stats from comScore, the Pre has some way to go before it matches the iPhone in mindshare. From Plumber of the Internet to Plumber of the Economy?

When he appeared at our D5 conference in May 2007, Sen. John McCain said that, given the chance, he’d hire Cisco CEO John Chambers for his cabinet. Now, in the run-up to the November presidential election, it looks like Chambers has some competition for that spot. Serves You Right for Using Yahoo Mail …

What an ugly week for the digital GOP. First, John McCain’s domestic policy adviser conjures up a PR disaster by crediting the senator with the development of the Blackberry–odd, since McCain’s not exactly a digital native. Then former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina says U.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s not qualified to run HP. And now, Palin’s Yahoo email account has been hacked and its contents published to Wikileaks. What an astonishingly tech-savvy presidential ticket.
