Verizon: No, We’re Not Going To Buy Sprint

Verizon’s response to AT&T’s $39 billion buyout of T-Mobile will not be a knee-jerk acquisition of Sprint, despite rumors to the contrary. Speaking to Reuters this morning, Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead said the carrier isn’t mulling a bid for Sprint. “We’re not interested in Sprint,” he said. “We don’t need them.” According to Mead, Verizon Wireless’s goal is to be the most profitable carrier, not the biggest, though it continues to tout itself as “America’s largest … wireless network” in its branding.
