Um, John, ever think that maybe this won't be its most profitable business for long? I can't but help notice the timing of this announcement.

Guess what the new estimate for weekend Droid sales is when you finally get an analyst worth his salt because he accounts for other retailers, outside of Verizon stores, both real world as well as online retailers? 400,000!

The original iPhone didn't sell that well given it took 72 days to sell a million and they sold 270,000 in the first 30 hours before changing quarters.

http://www.thestreet.com/story/10625314/1/motorola-droid-not-as-lifeless-as-first-thought.html

But, lordie lordie, Scott Mortiz sure likes to paint it bleak no matter what information he gets. How is 400,000 "not as lifeless?" Somewhat lifeless paints a healthy, robust picture of sales? Sheesh.

Looks to me like MOT is on track to sell a million this week alone. Amazon is sold out currently.
