Electronic Arts to Sack 1,500

This after announcing plans this morning to acquire social network game maker Playfish for $400 million.

“EA is performing well, with quality, sales and segment share up so far this year,” EA CEO John Riccitiello said in a statement. “We are making tough calls to cut costs in targeted areas and investing more in our biggest games and digital businesses.”
