Out of all the people in the world I don’t feel sorry for, iPod touch owners are at the top of the list. I don’t see how Apple owes them anything.

Translation:

“Apple has sold 20M iPod Touches, mainly to customers who can’t receive or can’t tolerate AT&T service and pricing. Many of them want a camera, though.

“We were expecting Apple to do the right thing and give it to them. However, they decided instead to make you buy a second iPod, or else knuckle under to AT&T.”

Gene Munster says “We were expecting a new iPod touch model with a video camera, which Apple did not announce,” …

Then in the same paragraph, “Ultimately we see the lack of a camera in the touch as a move to push users toward the iPhone and drive purchases of multiple devices per customer by segmenting the product lines.”

So Gene, make up your mind.
