The SDK wasn't even released. A lot of credit has to go to the development tools which had their beginning in the late 80s at NeXT. Back then it was popular because of its ease of use, and that is still true 20 years later. There are apps in the store created by children younger than 10. Try that with any other set of tools. Heh, even I'm learning the tools now, and will create an app some time in the future. And if I can do it, most anyone can.
