> Sony’s announcement leaves
> Apple (AAPL) as the lone
> major computer manufacturer
> without a netbook offering,
> a designation it’s likely to
> keep for the foreseeable
> future,

How is the iPod touch not a netbook? Isn't the iPhone a phone with a netbook built-in?

I can't really see how anyone who has an iPhone or iPod touch would need a typical netbook. I carry an iPhone 3GS and MacBook Air everywhere, but I don't get the MacBook Air out unless I am settling into a desk or sofa. I can type 40 wpm on iPhone with 2 thumbs and get at my browser, email, and many more things without needing the Air.

I can see the need for a larger iPod touch, but still, if you're spending $299 on a netbook you are going to be better off with an iPod touch in many cases.
