Oh, One More Thing…Ladies and Gentlemen, I Give You…Steve Jobs
Welcome news: Apple (AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs is nearly ready to return to work and is expected to be back at his desk by months end. This after nearly six months of medical leave taken to deal with a nasty hormonal imbalance problem. “He was one real sick guy,” a person familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal. “Fundamentally he was starving to death over a nine-month period. He couldn’t digest protein. (But) he took corrective action.”
The Journal speculates that Jobs might make a surprise appearance during next week’s WWDC keynote and while the publication didn’t reach any hard conclusions on the issue, I suppose it is possible. When it first announced the WWDC keynote, Apple said it would be delivered by “a team of Apple executives, led by Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.” Could it happen that the team to which Apple refers includes Jobs himself after a grand “One more thing” entrance? I’ve no idea. Here’s hoping, though.

I’d love to see Steve, too, but how about giving the guy sufficient time to recuperate? Which is more important, his health or pleasing the crowd? I just find this drumbeat a little disturbing.

Posted by Bjorn Tipling at June 5th, 2009 at 5:23 pmA 24-hour reflection: On re-reading John’s piece, I believe his hope is that Steve is perfectly well enough to appear on Monday, which would be fine, of course. My comment is more on the ’sphere in general and keeping things in perspective.
Here’s to an exciting Monday of stupendous announcements, whoever makes them.
