Redhat may own JBoss but unlike Sun who owns Sparc, MySQL, Java and Solaris, it does not own Linux. If I were IBM, I will be asking myself, what am I buying if I buy Redhat? Definitely not Linux itself. So is it for JBoss, or for its few hundred million dollars revenue? How much premium would that be worth? We all know that Oracle is a Linux distributor and it is is not even buying Redhat, why should IBM? HP might be a little more interested in JBoss and Redhat Linux but the likelihood of IBM or MSFT buying SAP may be a tad greater. Hmmm, why don't IBM just buy Accenture?
