Larry is associating Apple with proprietary software and hardware and that's justification for the same goal. While HP and IBM are trying to build services, use Linux, (and his Java) as their customers want to lower costs. The next thing we will hear is that GE is getting into entertainment, oh, never mind. The hardware business is bad and worth nothing. If nothing else Larry wants the best price for the pig. He personally owned a HW business in the past. I don’t know if he still does. Its primary goal was to move more Oracle SW. This is just Larry’s first pass at negotiating a price and terms. So we know what he is, now it is just a matter of pricing.
