I think you’re confusing median with mean (average). The latter is probably much higher than the former (as with personal income stats). So the average number of apps per hardware unit probably exceeds 5 handily. Even so, I take your main point.

My wife, the iPhone junkie, has PURCHASED way more than 5 apps.
Yes, the majority are priced between $1 and $5, but she has only had the iPhone for 3 months.

There seems to be two kinds of iPhone users. A graphic artist I work with doesn’t download apps at all. She just likes the iPhone as a phone.

She also buys scarves that are woven from the wool of a special Kasmir goat which has hair so fine that it takes one person a lifetime to weave a single scarf – which costs $15,000.

To each her own I guess.

Every other iPhone user I know has WAY more than five apps, and they use a good number of them regularly.
