Didn’t the head of NOKIA say something similar awhile back, and haven’t their sales tanked?

I have no use for these sissy iPhones!

Give me a phone with so many buttons and such a complex user interface I can figure out how to do everything except make a phone call!

Give me a phone that gets your blood circulating by dropping calls right under a cell tower due to a software crash!

Give me a phone that makes you so mad you pound your fist into it!

Give me a phone with such a hi-tech battery it catches on fire, better yet, EXPLODES!

Ballmer’s constant dismissals are a lot like the heads of GM who spent years making fun of the Toyota Prius and bragging about their market share and experience. See where that got them…It really is baffling that he doesn’t get it. I had a Windows mobile phone and, as a Windows user who thinks the Mac OS is a pain in the ass, still found that MS had lost the plot on their phone OS. Horrible mess, and looked like win3.1 locked up constantly. I have an iPhone, and love it.

No kidding.

All the carriers care about is CONTROL. They have no loyalty to any phone OS. They just want to take as much money as possible from the subscriber. I cite $2.50 ring tones as an example.

All the hardware manufacturers care about is selling the most hardware at the highest possible profit. They have no loyalty to a phone OS either.

A huge part of the problem is that consumers have no loyalty to hardware–do you really care if your next phone is made by Samsung or Nokia?. Of course not.

The other is that consumers (in the USA, at least) hate their mobile company. Perceived high prices and crappy service. So, the only loyalty is to “the grass is greener…”
