Energy is the new name of the game. Sun Servers are only a means to an end. Think Sun Energysystems.

sun reached its zenith in 1999 and since then hasn't been competitive in pricing its products. that's what killed it...intel and dell caught up in performance with much lower-cost servers running LAMP

there's no NEED to run Solaris or have a Sparc for $100k a shot

the best thing sun could do is stop trying to sell their cadillac guzzler servers and be a software firm 100%

the hardware biz is dead to its high-priced boxes and always will be

ask yourself: would keliner perkins fund sun today with its bloated costs and overpriced product that few will buy?

a junior mba associate would reply: "the market's commoditized and we see no niche for your solution. Stay in touch when you find a market or adjust product lines for a market"
