I see a tiny mention of imeem at the end there, if you didn't know, imeem was reportedly created by a load of ex-napster engineers.

in terms of technology imeem is certainly beating the pants off the new myspace music with better sound quality and more features, but myspace will probably get users simply because most users don't notice these advantages.

imeem will still be the place to go for hard to find tracks but the mainstream catalog stuff is just as easily available at myspace (and of course last.fm)

it's a shame because imeem really made all the innovation and myspace has had it in for them ever since it started censoring any mention of imeem

Agreed. The Napster experience wasn't a great one -- compared to the music services we have today. That said, it did change the music biz forever. And back in the day, it was beloved. If you recall, a number of universities had to ban it because heavy student use was overwhelming their networks. That particular demographic is among the many MySpace is targeting with this effort.

Seems the memory of Napster is really not remembered. Napster was not in its heyday a great music experience. It was just FREE MP3s with little in competition at that time. In fact the experience for users was quite lousy.
