The iPhone 3G launch frenzy is over, but not because the public’s fascination with the device has worn thin. It’s over because the iPhone 3G is out of stock at 117 of Apple’s (AAPL) 188 retail stores. After just five days on the market, Apple’s iPhone 3G is sold out in 20 states. So if you haven’t yet purchased one, but are hoping to, you may have to wait a bit longer. New shipments are expected to arrive at Apple Stores most days. No telling how long they’ll last, though.
