Apple End-of-Lifes .Crap Jokes

Wednesday, July 9, 6 p.m. - 12 a.m. PT. That’s when Apple (AAPL) will take .Mac offline to begin rolling out it’s new MobileMe service. Touted by the company as “Exchange for the rest of us,” MobileMe delivers push e-mail, push contacts and push calendars from the so called “cloud” to native applications on iPhone, iPod touch, Macs and PCs. An update to one device is an update to all. Just like Exchange, but without those wonderful “Error 0×800700003 occurred while rendering message” notifications. …

With Wednesday’s transition, Apple finally closes the book on .Mac, the archaic online services suite for which it’s taken so much flak for over the years and opens another on its MobileMe offering, which will hopefully put an end to all those “.crap” jokes, or at least make it a lot harder for us to make them in the first place.
