Recently, an Adrian(MI) man entered a freeway exit ramp, drove the wrong way on an Ohio freeway, and killed a mother and several of her family members. I would think that a combination of global positioning technology and On-Star technology could result in a system where a driver could be notified BEFORE he caused an accident. There has to be a way to disable vehicles of habitual drunk drivers. The thought of a group of vehicles "driving themselves" on the freeways mixed in with those who would rather drive their vehicles scares the hell out of me as much if not more than drunk drivers. He told us then that there would be cars that drive themselves coming some day. I think he said some time in the late 70 or early 80s. Heh, they never learn. But I confess, being from Southern California I would really love such a car if my commute was longer than it is - 8 minutes. I'm waiting for a cheap fuel cell Segwey.
