This was an outrageously stupid and shocking decision. I guess the people of the United States really are dumb enough to swallow almost anything. Very depressing, actually. It's hard to imagine what could possibly be shocking enough to rouse the snoring masses from their stupified slumbers.

The only thing companies understand is money. Boycotting them takes away money from them. This gets their attention. Anything else is just blah blah blah. Will enough people boycot them in objection to their business practices? I doubt it. I believe they will continue to act like big brother and the consumer will continue to suffer. They envision a day when you will not even be allowed to play music from any device that can be heard by anyone other than the owner of said music or you will be required by law to pay a listener fee to the record companies! Think that sounds crazy?...just wait.

[...] I don’t know about the geniuses who run the RIAA, but if I was one of the guys in Journey or Aerosmith or Green Day or any of the other bands that Ms. Thomas downloaded and listened to regularly, I would call her up right now and offer to pay her court costs. Lawyer Ray Beckerman at Recording Industry vs. The People calls it “one of the most irrational things I have ever seen in my life in the law” (hat tip to John Paczkowski at All Things D for the link).
